The Mingyue Island ( Chinese 明月 島 / 明月 岛 ), German: "Heller-Mond-Insel", is an inland island in China . It has an area of 76 hectares and is located in the Nen Jiang River ( Chinese 嫩江 ), about 7 km northwest of the center of the district-free city of Qiqihar . Administratively, the island belongs to Qiqihar's Jianhua (建华 区) district. It was originally called Sishui Island (泗水 岛) and was only renamed in July 1983 by the then governor of Heilongjiang Province , Chen Lei (陈雷). In the center of the island there is a group of older style buildings.
