The Ministerial Commissioner , MB for short, is an official appointed by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture to supervise the schools under his authority.

General

The Ministerial Commissioner is appointed by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture for the types of schools of the grammar school and the Realschule for each administrative region (Upper Bavaria is divided into the districts of Upper Bavaria-East and Upper Bavaria-West), for the Bavarian vocational high schools for North, East and Southern Bavaria, ordered.

The ministerial commissioner acts between the schools that are subordinate to him for supervision and to which he is authorized to give instructions and the state ministry. As part of his work, he decides, for example, on supervisory complaints against teachers or advises school management in special cases. The ministerial representative is also involved in the selection of new school heads. The inauguration of new school heads and their official farewell are also part of the duties of the ministerial representatives.

At his office, he has specialist officers for each subject area, for example mathematics, who usually work as a teacher at one of the schools subordinate to the ministerial commissioner in parallel to their work for the ministerial commissioner.

Other service titles

The ministerial commissioner has a further title. Often the ministerial officers are senior senior course directors (Ltd. OStD for short), but senior course directors (OStD) or senior realschool directors (Ltd. RSD) can also be found. These designations depend on whether the ministerial representatives were assigned to a grammar school or a secondary school in their previous professional career.
