Vocational high school Bavaria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vocational High School Bavaria (BOB) since 2008 include the technical college (FOS) for students with and without the Berufsoberschule (BOS) for those who have completed vocational training.

Content

It consists of the 11th to 13th grade, whereby the eleventh is usually not required in the vocational high school if you have a middle school leaving certificate and after the twelfth the technical college entrance qualification can be obtained regularly and in the vocational high school on application. To do this, it is necessary to pass an examination (technical diploma) in four subjects (mathematics, German, English and the main subject).

Half of the eleventh grade of the FOS consists of an internship . After the 13th grade, which in the FOS can only be attended in the twelfth with a correspondingly good average, the general (if a second foreign language has been learned sufficiently) or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification can be acquired.

Since the 2006/2007 school year, points (0 to 15) instead of grades (1 to 6) have been awarded for performance assessments , similar to the college level of the grammar school. In addition to the points achieved (0 to 15), the corresponding grades (1 to 6) are also given in words on the interim and final certificate.

Admission to the technical college (§ 27 FOBOSO)

registration

Registration at the public schools is possible once a year, usually for two weeks after the interim certificates are issued in February. You can often enroll in private schools for a much longer period of time. The original of the interim certificate must be submitted or submitted later (at least in the case of public schools) when registering; this is to prevent you from registering at several schools at the same time and thus blocking places.

Requirements for admission to the 11th grade

Certain school qualifications / grades

Middle school leaving certificate
(acquired at a middle school, secondary school, business school, vocational school, vocational school) with a grade point average in German, English and mathematics better than 3.5, or

Qualified vocational qualification (Quabi)

with a grade point average in German, English and mathematics better than 3.5, or

Permission to advance to the 11th grade of a grammar school
(grade point average does not matter); or

Certificate of the special examination passed at a grammar school according to § 98 GSO.
The average grade in German, English and mathematics must be better than 3.5. This exam takes place at the end of the summer vacation. It gives the opportunity to acquire the middle school leaving certificate despite one grade 6 or two grades 5 in advancement subjects of the 10th grade high school certificate if all other grades in advancement subjects are 4 or better.

Assessment test in special cases

Anyone who does not have a grade in mathematics, German or English on their certificate (e.g. because mathematics was not taken at the business school) can take an assessment test at the technical college. The date is uniform throughout Bavaria, usually at the end of July.

Artistic entrance examination in the field of design

This must also be taken and takes place at least in the public schools across Bavaria on the same day, usually in March. The subjects are set by the technical college. The exam consists of two parts of 120 minutes each: a work based on visible reality - mostly still lifes, materials are provided by the school - and one based on the imagination. The assessment is carried out by teachers from the technical college. At the start of lessons, the passed exam must be a maximum of 18 months ago, so it is usually only valid for the following school year.

State-approved private schools may deviate from these requirements. Some prescribe a different artistic admission procedure (e.g. submission of work in a portfolio, different date for the artistic entrance examination), etc. a. the Montessori technical college in Munich.

Preparation for the 11th grade of the technical college

Preliminary course

For pupils of the M-train of the secondary school and the H-branch of the business school, a preliminary course with 2 weekly lessons in German, mathematics and English is set up at the technical colleges in the 2nd half of the 10th grade. It should bring you up to the level of the 11th grade. Classes take place in the afternoons or on Saturdays, at some technical colleges also as a block course shortly before the start of the school year. Participation is voluntary. Registered pupils who come from other types of school can take part if there are enough places.

Pre-class
In the school year 2011/12, the pre-class for technical colleges started as a model test for pupils of the M-train of the secondary school and the H-branch of the business school at the locations Altötting, Munich and Kitzingen. The school trial was extended to other locations from the 2012/13 school year. Pupils from other types of school as well as from the elective subject group M (M-branch) of the business school can now also be admitted to the preliminary class. Attending the preliminary class is also possible if the grade average required for admission to the 11th grade is not achieved, but suitability is confirmed by an educational report. Registration takes place during the registration times that are set for the 11th grade of the technical college. Before admission, a consultation should clarify whether the pre-class is the better choice for young people than the 11th grade. The final admission takes place with the completion of the trial period, which lasts until December 15th. The curricula, lesson tables and regulations for performance assessments for the pre-class of vocational high school apply.

Technical practical training in the 11th grade of the technical college

Function of practical training

  • Help with choosing a career
  • Entry into the working world
  • Learning about work organization
  • Teamwork experience
  • Problem identification and management

Scope and organization
About half of the lessons in the 11th grade are intended for practical training. (Lesson table, Appendix 1 to the FOBOSO) This includes the practical technical instructions for which the supervising teacher is responsible and which are given in the class in the school, usually one lesson per week. The organization of the practical training varies from school to school. Some schools alternate between lessons and practical training on a weekly basis, others have longer blocks, and still others give e.g. B. three days of lessons per week and two days for practical training. In the fields of design and technology, the practical training takes place partly in the school's own workshops, and partly in companies. In the social services training course, the young people work in educational institutions, hospitals and facilities for older people during their practical training. In the field of business, administration and justice, for example, you can choose a court, a law firm, a public administration or a commercial enterprise for the practical training. Some schools provide address lists of internship positions from previous years. The supervising teacher visits the young people at least once where they are completing their practical training.

Guidelines
There are separate guidelines for practical training for each direction of training:

Assessment
No grades are given for the performance in the practical training, but an overall assessment. It can read in the 11th grade semester report

  • so far with very good success / good success / success
  • so far without success,

in the annual report of the 11th grade

  • with very good success / good success / success
  • go through without success.

The achievements in the practical training are listed in the certificate of the technical college entrance qualification.

Trial period at the technical colleges (§ 32 FOBOSO)

The first half of the 11th grade is considered a trial period. It is not passed if, after an overall assessment of the performance, it cannot be expected that the target of the grade will be achieved. This is usually the case

if you have grade 6 (0 points) in one compulsory subject or grade 5 (1 to 3 points) in two compulsory subjects (or even worse grades) and if no circumstances can be identified that make better performance likely and / or
if you have completed the practical training "so far without success".

A compensation of grades is possible (§ 53 FOBOSO).

Requirements for admission to the 13th grade of the technical college

In the certificate for the advanced technical college entrance qualification, one must have achieved at least an average grade of "3.0". The average is calculated to one place after the decimal point, it is not rounded. The subjects sport and art education or music (only relevant for the social training course) are not counted (§ 68 III FOBOSO).

Qualifications at the end of the 13th grade (technical college and vocational college)

Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification

Exam parts

Written exams
According to § 64 FOBOSO, written exams in German, mathematics and English are required for all fields of training. In addition, there is an additional written examination subject for each course:

  • Technology: physics
  • Agriculture, Bio- and Environmental Technology: Biology
  • Economy, administration and law: Business administration with accounting
  • Social affairs: pedagogy / psychology
  • Design: design.

The examination tasks are set uniformly for all of Bavaria, in some subjects the school can choose from a given selection.

Oral exams
In English, an oral exam is required for everyone. It is held as a group examination with four to six students and should last five minutes for each examinee. (§ 65 V 2 and 4 FOBOSO) The examination board can oblige candidates to take an oral examination in another compulsory subject if the board of examiners comes to the conclusion that the level of performance has not been clarified by the result of the written examination and the annual progression result (§ 65 III FOBOSO). Oral examinations can be taken voluntarily in a maximum of one subject of the written examination and a maximum of one other compulsory subject of the 13th grade with the exception of sport and the second foreign language if you have achieved less than 4 points in this subject over the course of the year. Candidates must submit an application for this (§ 65 II FOBOSO).

Study opportunities with the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification

The subject-specific higher education entrance qualification entitles to study certain subjects at a university or art college (§ 1 Paragraph 3, § 4 and § 5 No. 1 QualV). Most of these courses are related to the course chosen at the vocational high school. But there are also a few others, such as studying to become a primary school teacher, are open. The Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture, Science and Art has published an allocation list that shows which courses are possible for people with a subject-related higher education entrance qualification in Bavaria.

General University Entrance Qualification

Anyone who, in addition to the subject-related higher education entrance qualification, can prove knowledge of a second foreign language that has been rated at least as “sufficient”, acquires the general higher education entrance qualification (§ 73 FOBOSO), which enables the study of all courses at universities. This proof can be provided in various ways:

Compulsory or optional courses for at least four years at previously attended schools with a final grade of 4 or better
Examples of this are grades 6 to 9 of the eight-year grammar school or 7 to 10 of the other general schools, such as secondary schools, or even higher grades. Anyone who has achieved at least a grade of 4 in French in their secondary school diploma, for example, fulfills this requirement.
Participation in compulsory classes at the vocational high school with a final grade of 4 (at least 4 points) or better
Larger vocational high schools give four hours per week of compulsory lessons in the second foreign language (mostly French, Spanish or Latin, sometimes also Italian or Russian) in grades 12 and 13.
Supplementary examination at the vocational high school
Participation is possible for pupils of the vocational high school, but also for young people who have been to the vocational high school in previous school years.
Those who finish grade 13 with a grade worse than the required grade can take the supplementary examination once, but not in the year in which the 13th grade is attended. The vocational high school can allow these young people to take part in lessons in the second foreign language as guests until their supplementary examination
The exam consists of an oral and a written part and can be repeated once. When calculating the final grade, the oral part counts once and the written part counts twice.
The requirements are based on the level after four years of compulsory or elective lessons in the second foreign language of the grammar school or level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages / the Little Latinum.
DELF certificate for French, level B1
French is the only language for which a certificate is recognized that was obtained outside the state school system: the DELF B1 from the DELF-DALF program .
Foreign language certificate of vocational education
This proof of knowledge of a foreign language can be found, among other things, in the diploma from a specialist academy for foreign language professions.
