The Staatliche Fachoberschule und Berufsoberschule Hof ( Vocational Oberschule ) is a secondary school in Hof .

School building on Schloßplatz

The school buildings of the Fachoberschule (FOS) are in the area of an old castle from the 13th century (first mentioned in 1276). The facility was used to defend the city. In 1743 the palace burned down completely and the princely government decided not to rebuild it. The complex deteriorated noticeably until it was converted into a municipal parking garage in the 1990s. In 1856 the foundation stone of the Royal Bavarian Realschule was laid by Maximilian II . He personally took care of building the school. In 1900/1901 school fees were 20 marks per year. In 1907 the first steps were taken to convert it into an upper secondary school . The city of Hof made 840,000 marks available for this. When the First World War broke out, the money made available was used for other purposes. It was not until March 17, 1923 that the upper secondary school was completed and thus founded. At the time of National Socialism , from 1939 to 1941, the upper secondary school was only accessible to boys from the city of Hof. During this time all students belonged to the Hitler Youth . During the Second World War , the secondary school was converted into a protective bunker. After the end of the war, teaching was resumed in the secondary school. In 1965 the upper secondary school - today's Schiller-Gymnasium - moved to the Schillerschulhaus. In 1980 the state college in Hof, founded in 1970, moved in, which until then had been spread across the city. Today, most of the FOS classes and the administration of the technical and vocational high school are housed in the building on Schloßplatz.

School building on Longoliusplatz

Schoolhouse on Longoliusplatz

The teacher and history researcher Paul Daniel Longolius was the rector of the Hof high school. Today's Longoliusplatz, where the vocational school (BOS) is located, was named after him.

The Johann-Christian-Reinhart-Gymnasium was located on Longoliusplatz until 1975 , previously an upper secondary school for girls. This is why the building is still commonly called the broom barn today. The BOS Hof classes are housed in this building today. The previously badly dilapidated building was completely renovated by spring 2010.
