The state vocational high school in Kitzingen comprises a technical college and a vocational college .
Spatial development
The school in the school center of Mühlberg south of the city center was founded in 1970 as a technical college with 40 students in two classes - initially in the rooms of the grammar school and later also in the now demolished secondary school and the commercial school. In 1976, the district took over the sponsorship of the city, which was no longer independent since 1972. The current building dates from 1978, was energetically renovated with a new facade design in the 2009/10 school year, the interior renovation followed in 2016/17. In 1999, a vocational high school (BOS) was affiliated, so classes in the Dettelbach Realschule had to be outsourced until rooms were rented in the Telekom building near the main building (until 2008). Additional rooms were added in the school pavilion purchased in 2001 , which has been used by the Armin-Knab-Gymnasium since 2013 , and in 2003 in the Würzburg Schillerschule in the Sanderau district as a branch (see below). When it became independent in 2013 with over 600 students (which grew to 1,300 by 2018), the Kitzinger Stammschule became part of the State Vocational School Center Kitzingen - Ochsenfurt .
Würzburg location
Starting in 2003 with five, the number of classes relocated to Würzburg rose to 23 with 617 students by the 2010/11 school year. Some of these had to be housed in nearby buildings. Talks between the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and the city of Würzburg to run the Schillerschule branch as an independent state vocational high school were initially unsuccessful. The city council wanted a long-term merger of the city with the new (to be founded) state vocational high school in order to save personnel costs. In 2009 a solution was worked out that does not set a precedent for other municipal schools: A joint FOS / BOS location will be created at the previous Franz Oberthür School on Zwerchgraben . While the city is reducing classes there over five years, the Free State is building them up. From the 2013/14 school year, the new building accommodated the state vocational secondary school in Würzburg, which was newly founded on August 1, 2013 under the direction of the previous Kitzinger director Susanne Kraus-Lindner, as well as the departments of printing and media professions of the municipal vocational school.
Expansion of the offer
In 2004 the first year BOS 13 graduated with a higher education entrance qualification , and in 2007 for the first time an FOS 13. With the school year 2008/09, the FOS and BOS were combined to form the vocational secondary school. With the school year 2011/12, the newly created pre-class FOS started as a model test next to two other locations in Bavaria (Munich and Altötting) as a bridge offer for pupils of the 10th grade of the M-train of the secondary schools , the 10th grade of the H- Branch of the business schools and grade 11 of the two-tier business school. In the 2012/13 school year, combined courses were added in cooperation with the local secondary school . A theater group was founded in 2011 as an option. Since April 25, 2013 the school has been participating in the School without Racism - School with Courage project . In 2016/17 it was recognized as a Fairtrade school and in 2017/18 a cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt .
