The full UV are tram - railcars in Greater design , the 1956 to 1965 for the Budapest tram by the company GANZ were developed and built. It was a further development of the previous model T, which was called "Stuka" because of the "howling" engine noises. On April 3, 1956, the first UV drove on Line 2. By 1965, 375 units had been built. Types 1 to 3 cars had two driver's cabs. In the late 1970s, however, the cars no longer operated as a single multiple unit, but rather coupled rear to rear as a group. Type 4 was practically only available on paper. In the early 1980s, all UV cars were converted to just a separate driver's cab. In addition, the cars received new headlights, electrical departure signals, an electrical warning bell and rear-view mirrors. After the turn of the millennium, UV disappeared from the cityscape. First, the BKV Zrt. from Üstra Hannover the type DUEWAG TW 6000 . In 2005, around 100 were still in use. In March 2006, BKV Rt. Purchased the Combino wagons from Siemens-DUEWAG . These replaced older Ganz Csuklós on lines 4 and 6, which were now available for the last 41, 47 and 49 operated by the UV. August 20, 2007 was the last day of operation of line 47 across Szabadság híd before its reconstruction. That should also be the last day of operation of the UV. In August 2009, the UV operated on a special line between Hűvösvölgy and Kamaraerdei Ifjúsági Park .
