history

Until the 19th century

Pielenhofen belonged to the Imperial Monastery of Kaisheim . The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria , but formed a closed Hofmark of the Kaisheim subpriorate Kloster Pielenhofen . The monastery was secularized in 1803 and bought by the Salesian Sisters in 1838 , who established an institute for major daughters.

From the 20th century

As part of the municipal area reform, an administrative partnership with Pettendorf and Wolfsegg was initially planned in 1971 . However, this did not happen initially. In 1975 this plan was resumed and implemented by the government. On May 1, 1978, the Pettendorf administrative community, consisting of Pielenhofen, Pettendorf and Wolfsegg with its headquarters in Pettendorf, was founded. On January 1, 2002, Pettendorf was released from this administrative community and has since formed a unified community . The administrative seat of the remaining Pielenhofen-Wolfsegg community was relocated to Wolfsegg.

On October 1, 2009, part of the dissolved, community-free area of Schwaighauser Forst was incorporated.
