Until the 19th century

In Schönach (formerly Straubing court), which is now part of the municipality, the Counts of Seinsheim owned a closed Hofmark until 1797 . In 1818 today's political community Mötzing as well as Haimbuch and Schönach was established. The Berchem family's patrimonial court existed in Dengling until 1848 .
20th century
At the end of the Second World War in April 1945, the death marches of concentration camp prisoners began from the Flossenbürg concentration camp to the Dachau concentration camp. A death march led around 200 prisoners on April 24, 1945 from Schönach via Hainbuch to Mötzing. In Mötzing, the prisoners stayed in a detached barn, the Hofmeisterstadel, which was strictly guarded by the SS. The next morning, April 25th, we went on to Sünching. Three young prisoners named Janek Silberberg, Samuel Berger and Heinrich Chensinski hid in the straw of the barn and thus escaped the death march. As the march continued, an inmate fell to the ground from exhaustion, whereupon he was killed by an SS man with a shot in the head. Two prisoners had to pull the man who had been shot with them to the edge of the village. Six more weak prisoners were shot and buried on the outskirts of the village near the Laaber. The pastor at the time, Alois Braun, arranged for the seven dead bodies to be reburied in the Mötzingen cemetery.
