Wolfram Menschick (born October 28, 1937 in Pielenhofen , † December 8, 2010 in Eichstätt ) was a German church musician , professor of liturgical organ playing and composer of church music .

Life and career

Wolfram Menschick attended elementary school in Regensburg , graduated from high school in Straubing and studied conducting with Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , composition with Harald Genzmer and organ with Franz Lehrndorfer at the State University of Music in Munich . He died on December 8, 2010 in Eichstätt. Bishop Gregor Maria Hanke personally celebrated the Requiem .

Professional and musical activities

At the same time as studying music in Munich, he took up his first position as a church musician in St. Konrad in Regensburg . In 1966 he became the choir director at St. Georg in Amberg . From 1969 until his retirement in 2002 was tungsten Menschick Domkapellmeister , organist and diocesan director of church music at Eichstätt Cathedral . From 1986 to 2000 he was professor of liturgical organ and choral conducting at the Munich University of Music and Theater .

From 1970 to 2002 he was a bell expert for the diocese of Eichstätt. Since 1972 Wolfram Menschick was active in the Advisory Committee for the German Bell System , the highest body for bells in Germany, which is set up by the Bishops' Conference and the EKD . Organ planning

As an organ expert, he designed numerous instruments for the diocese of Eichstätt from 1969 onwards. His ideal type were organs with a baroque style and mechanical action and stop action on slide chests. The largest instrument planned by him is the organ of the Eichstätter Dom, built in 1975 by Orgelbau Sandtner (64 / IV / P).

Wolfram Menschick and his wife Roswitha have six daughters, including the crime writer Roswitha Wildgans and the violin maker Julia Menschick (Nuremberg).
