Orgelbau Sandtner is a German organ building company in Dillingen on the Danube .
history
Sandtner brothers
In 1935 the master organ builders Adolf (1905–1977) and Ignaz Sandtner (1909–1982) founded the “Gebrüder Sandtner” organ building workshop in Steinheim an der Donau . Her work was interrupted by the Second World War. The company built around 50 new organs in Bavarian Swabia and Upper Bavaria , including some three-manual instruments with over 40 registers.
Organ building Sandtner
- In 1967, organ builder Hubert Sandtner (Ignaz's son) joined the company, and in 1968 Adolf left the company. In 1969 Hubert moved the workshop to Dillingen ad Donau . Adolf later opened his own workshop at the old location. Hubert Sandtner led his company to an upswing with new buildings, conversions and restorations, combined with the expansion of the customer base beyond Bavaria and Germany.
- From 2008 Hubert Sandtner and organ builder and restorer Norbert Bender jointly managed the company as a GmbH .
- Hubert Sandtner retired on June 25, 2014, and Norbert Bender has been the sole managing director since then. From 1968 to 2020 the company built or restored over 353 instruments in Germany, Norway and South Korea, also for music colleges and cathedral churches.
