St. Konrad Church in Burlafingen

The St. Konrads Church is the Catholic parish church in the Neu-Ulm district of Burlafingen.

history

The new parish church for the then still independent town of Burlafingen was planned from the mid-1950s. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on October 1, 1958. The interior was completed in the following two years. On November 12, 1960, Diocesan Bishop Joseph Freundorfer consecrated the new church and placed it under the patronage of St. Brother Konrad . Relics of St. Christina and the martyr Manno were buried in the altar .

The total cost of the building amounted to 944,000 DM. These were largely taken over by the Diocese of Augsburg . The cost of the facility was borne by the parish; including the mosaic on the back wall of the altar, it was around 68,000 DM.

On December 6, 1970, the three-manual slider chest instrument was consecrated and handed over to its intended use with a concert in which cathedral music director Paul Steichele and the church choir of the St. Konrads parish took part.
