The Minnesota Fighting Pike were an arena football team from Minneapolis, Minnesota that played in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Fighting Pike played their home games in the Target Center .
history
The Fighting Pike were founded in 1996 and started in the AFL that same year. After only one season, the franchise was dissolved again. Media claims owner Tom Scallen lost over $ 400,000 to the franchise in one year.
The Fighting Pike completed their squad with a tryout at the beginning of the 1996 season. According to a report by the Star Tribunes, the then coach Art Haege was so annoyed by the invited players that after only one day he submitted his resignation to owner Tom Scallen. It is also interesting that all seven home games of the season were lost.
