Minoa (Amorgos)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The excavation site of the ancient town of Minoa ( Greek  Μινώα ( f. Sg. )) Is located on a mountain above the port of Katapola on the Greek island of Amorgos .

You can see ruins of the houses and the city wall from the Geometric era as well as the temple from Roman times. The former sanctuary, which is over 5000 years old, is located on the summit, in the middle of the former urban area. Of this, only the foundation walls of an approximately 2.5 m × 4 m building can still be seen. There is an imposing view over the harbor, the coast and the ruins.

Since the place is not very well developed for tourists, you can currently only visit it on your own. There are no opening times for the city.
