Konica Minolta Dimage

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Konica Minolta Dimage or until the end of 2003 only Minolta Dimage is a model series of compact digital cameras from ( Konica ) Minolta that existed from 1996 to 2006.

The age of digital compact cameras began for Minolta in 1996 when the Dimage V was launched. In future, the name was Dimage even under the later company Konica Minolta for different camera models, such as the very small and shallow Dimage X- models, the all-in-one cameras of Dimage-A series and the super zoom cameras of Dimage- Z series. After the merger with Konica was Dimage series partly with the Konica - Revio merged -Modellreihe, which led at times that some models were offered under different names of two companies.

Minolta is one of the first providers of digital cameras . A still video back for the Minolta 9000AF was presented at photokina 1986 . This is followed by the digital SLR cameras RD-175 with 1.75 megapixels and the Dimage RD-3000 with 2.7 megapixels.

The Dimage model series for the consumer sector was launched on the market in 1996 with the Dimage V (where the V does not stand for 5, but for VGA ), a simple digital camera with a rotating lens barrel, a detachable lens and a resolution of around 300,000 pixels. The successor models Dimage EX 1500 Wide and Dimage EX 1500 Zoom even had a lens barrel that could be removed from the camera body and a resolution of 1.35 megapixels.

In addition to various other compact cameras , the Dimage 5 and Dimage 7 were presented in 2001 ; they had an effective resolution of 3.14 or 4.92 megapixels and a focal length range of 35–250 mm or 28–200 mm (corresponding to 35mm format). These models established a line of so-called all-in-one cameras for the prosumer sector that has been continued to this day , the concept of which follows the strategy of offering a variety of functions comparable to SLR cameras, but with a compact and lighter housing - but without the Possibility of changing lenses.

Successor models of this product line were the Dimage 7i and the Dimage 7Hi (both 2002), the Dimage A1 (2003), the Dimage A2 (2004) and the Dimage A200 . The resolution has now been increased from five to eight megapixels, but the most significant innovation is probably the anti-shake image stabilization system introduced with the Dimage A1 , which in practice brings a gain of two to three f-stops and is now also available in Dimage-Z models - , the Dimage-X and the DSLR cameras of the Dynax series. For the Dimage A1 and the Dimage A2 , a portrait format handle was offered with the BP-400 . This takes 2 rechargeable batteries and offers easier operation for portrait shots.

From 2002, with the Dimage X, another sub-product line of ultra-compact digital cameras was introduced as a reaction to Canon's digital IXUS series, which, thanks to an unusual lens construction, enabled even more compact dimensions than the cameras in the Canon Ixus series. This line was also maintained and expanded with further models.

Another specialty of the Dimage model series are the superzoom cameras , whose product line was founded in 2003 with the Dimage Z1 ; Depending on the model, they have an 8, 10 or 12-fold super zoom lens with a focal length range of the equivalent of 38-290 / 380/420 mm (equivalent to a small picture ).
