Minotauromachy
A minotauromachy is the representation of the battle scene of Theseus with the Minotaur , a mythical creature with a human body and the head of a bull. Minotauromachies can be associated with labyrinth representations , but do not have to be.
The minotauromachy is rooted in antiquity , but the subject was taken up in modern painting. The best-known example is La Minotauromachie , an etching by Pablo Picasso from 1935.
Minotauromaquia , an animated short film by Juan Pablo Etcheverry , which takes Picasso's imagery and turns it into a wrong path through a graphic labyrinth, was awarded the Spanish Goya Film Prize in 2005.
