The Minsk Square ( Ukrainian Мінська площа / Minska ploschtscha ) is a place in the Ukrainian capital Kiev . The square is the focal point and an important transportation hub in Obolon Raion in northwest Kiev.
The square, which was laid out in the 1970s, has been named after the Belarusian capital Minsk since 1982 , after which the entire Rajon was named at that time.
Development
On the square there is the Minsk market, the Obolon district administration , the Minska ( Мінська ) underground station , which is served by Line 2 of the Kiev metro , and a monument to Archangel Michael , the patron saint of Kiev. Obolon Prospect ( Оболонський проспект ) and Marshal Tymoshenka Street ( Вулиця Маршала Тимошенка ) cross on the square .
