Miriam Seyda

Miriam Seyda (* 1976 ) is a German sports educator and university lecturer .

Life

From 1997 to 2004 Seyda studied sports science, German literature and psychology at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg and graduated with the title Magister Artium . From April 2004 to December 2006 she worked at the Oldenburg University of Applied Sciences on the “Moving Break at Work” project and from August 2004 to March 2013 at the same time as a research assistant at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science at the Technical University of Dortmund . During this time Seyda completed her doctoral thesis entitled “Personal development through exercise, play and sport. The importance of school sport for self-concept development in elementary school age ”, which was accepted in 2010 at the TU Dortmund and rated summa cum laude .

In April 2013, she took up a position as junior professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in the newly established work area “Movement, Games and Sports in Childhood”, which she held until August 2017. Afterwards, Seyda worked as a substitute professor for sports education and sports didactics at the European University of Flensburg , before she was appointed to a full professorship in the same field on October 1, 2018.

Seyda's scientific work focuses on school sport and teaching research, including a focus on the person of the sport teacher, as well as socialization through sport in children and adolescents.

Since 2019 she has been a member of the editorial board of the journal for sport educational research .
