Mirko Švenda Žiga

Mirko Švenda Žiga (born May 7, 1964 in Prelog , Croatia ) is a Croatian singer.

Life

Švenda was born on May 7, 1964 in Prelog , near the town of Čakovec . He grew up with his nine siblings in Čehovec near Prelog.

At the age of 13 he founded his first band "Amor", in which he was the lead singer and drummer. In the early 1990s, he performed at humanitarian events as well as clubs.

With Tomislav Ivčić , in whose band Švenda he was the drummer, he was planning his first solo album, which was not released due to the unexpected death of Ivčić . After a short artistic break, Švenda founded the music publisher Muraland-Švenda , under which he published three studio albums called "Fijolica 1", "Fijolica 2" and "Fijolica 3".

Since then he has performed under the name Žiga Međimurski .

The fourth album called Zvona Zvone ( Eng . The bells are ringing ) dealt exclusively with Christian topics. Each song on the album was about a holy protector of the parishes in Međimurje County .

In 1998 the fifth album called Cukor pekeraj was released by Croatia Records .

In 2014 he published the first time after 16 years of an album as a solo artist under the name Obiteljski album (dt. Family Album ), in which various covers of national and international artists (u. A. Of Thompson and Cesare Andrea Bixio ) are represented.

Žiga i Bandisti

In 2006 the Žiga i Bandisti project was born . Švenda no longer appeared as a solo artist, but with a band consisting of drummers and wind instruments, the traditional folk instruments from northern Croatia.

With his band Žiga i Bandisti , Švenda has recorded three studio albums so far. In 2007 the album specifically ETNO was released. The album was at number 4 on the Croatian album charts for a while.

Two years later he released the album cvETNO protuLETje ( Eng . Flowery spring ).

In 2011 the third album of the Žiga i Bandisti project called Pleh, struja, žica (German: sheet metal, electricity, wire ) was released.

A year later he released the live album The Cabaret .
