history
Today's Međimurje has been the settlement area of the "royal guests" since the 1260s - largely German craftsmen who also settled in Subotica of the landlord Count Lankret , who were supposed to develop and promote handicrafts and trade in this area. Count Lankret had to cede part of his estate and received two estates as replacement, whose landlords died without descendants. This exchange was carried out by the Croatian Ban Roland von Ratold and by Bishop Paul von Vesprem . The written change to the deed was made on December 9, 1264. Three days earlier, on December 6, Ban Roland issued another regulation - the judgment on the Trnava estate. This is where Prelog is mentioned in writing for the first time.
In September 1480 the Croatian-Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus stayed in Prelog. The Prelog trading center was administratively well organized at the time, even during the time when the Counts Zrinski ruled Međimurje (1546–1691).
