Cesare Andrea Bixio

Cesare Andrea Bixio (born October 11, 1896 in Naples , † March 5, 1978 in Rome ) was an Italian composer .

Bixio wrote about 150 film scores and about 500 popular Italian songs.

The German version Mama of the Italian song Mamma , originally written by Bixio in 1938 for the famous opera singer Beniamino Gigli , became famous thanks to the 1967 record and the resulting popularity of the Dutch child star Heintje . The single stayed in the German charts for 54 weeks from 1967-68. The song gained international fame through the interpretation of the Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti , arranged by Henry Mancini and published in 1984.
