Mirko Hrgović

Mirko Hrgović (born February 5, 1979 in Sinj , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former football player . He played for the Bosnian national soccer team . He has both Croatian and Bosnian citizenship. He accepted the latter in order to play on an international level (national team).

He moved to VfL Wolfsburg in 2003 , having previously worked in Croatia for Hajduk Split , Gamba Osaka and NK Široki Brijeg. Hrgović made 23 Bundesliga appearances during his time in Wolfsburg. During the 2005/2006 season he dissolved his contract in Wolfsburg and moved back to Hajduk Split. Since February 2008 he played for the Japanese first division club JEF United, but in July of the same year he returned to Croatia and signed a three-year contract with Dinamo Zagreb . On July 17, 2009, SpVgg Greuther Fürth announced that they had agreed on a 2-year contract with Hrgović. On November 25, 2009 he was released there after a conflict with coach Benno Möhlmann .

The midfielder completed 13 international matches for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national team .

His sister Ivanka Hrgović is a Croatian national handball player.
