Miro († 583 ) ruled from 570 to 583 as king of the Suebian Empire in Gallaecia , the area of ​​today's Galicia and northern Portugal . In 572 Miro convened the second council of Braga . In the same year he attacked Asturias and Cantabria , which had previously been part of the former Roman province of Gallaecia. Around the year 581 he received the envoy Florentianus from Australia . Miro initially concluded an armistice with the Visigoth king Leovigild , but then supported the unsuccessful uprising of Leovigild's son Hermenegild . He died on a campaign with which he wanted to come to Hermenegild's aid.
