Misch Da Leiden (birth name Michel Daleiden , * 1948 in Luxemburg (city) ) is a Luxembourg painter and serigraphist who lives and works in Düsseldorf .

biography

In 1968 his first gallery exhibition was in the exception Galerie Horn in Luxembourg City. 1969–1970 he studied monumental painting in Brussels at the La cambre art academy with Delahaut.

In 1969 he received the “IV. Biennale des Jeunes "in Esch / Alzette (Luxembourg), 1971 the 2nd prize of the" V. Biennale des Jeunes ”. Also in 1969 he got to know the artist group "Arbeitsgruppe Kunst", namely the artists Marc Henri Reckinger, René Wiroth, Berthe Lutgen, with whom he contested the sensational exhibition and the event "Initiative 69". With the successor group "GRAP" (Groupe de Recherche d'Art Politique) he intervened in the public discussion in 1972 in Kassel and Düsseldorf in the context of documenta 5 with a critical brochure on the documentary topic realism.

From 1970 to 1974 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . As a final thesis, he painted the series of pictures “Polaroid Pictures”, which is now in the possession of the Düsseldorf City Museum.

In 1975, Misch Da Leiden was appointed Weber's master student. In 1979 he co-founded the Atelierhaus Postr., Where he set up a serigraphy workshop. In 1989 he moved into the studio on Konkordiastr. Dusseldorf.

His work can be divided into the following periods: an experimental phase began in 1980 with the painting “Operation II”, followed in 1986 by the new period of relief paintings, which began with the relief painting “Sportsman”. His personal style began in 1994 with the “Airport” plant. Since 2006 his engagement with electronic image processing has intensified.
