The ecumenical initiative Together for Europe is an international network of around 300 Christian movements and communities from Europe. It was created in 1999 and connects Evangelical Lutheran , Catholic , Anglican , Evangelical Reformed and Orthodox Christians as well as members of free churches and new congregations.

She wants to express the need to reaffirm fidelity to the Gospel together in a Europe that is risking losing its original values and renouncing its Christian roots.

The initiative has become known through its congresses:

  • In May 2004 the initiative gathered around 10,000 Catholics, Protestants and members of free churches in Stuttgart.
  • On the occasion of the 2007 Congress, Pope Benedict XVI paid tribute to the ecumenical initiative as “happy ecumenical intuition”. The congress in Stuttgart was attended by "250 Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican groups, movements and communities", a total of "9,500 people from 15 European countries" attended. Angela Merkel , Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany , praised the work of the initiative: "With your movement you also give the unity of Europe a face and with your network you build bridges between different peoples and cultures."
  • The 2012 Congress took place in Brussels and at the same time, with similar events, in 152 cities in 22 European countries.
  • In 2016 Christians from 32 countries came to Munich. After a two-day congress, there was a public rally in the center of the city (Karlsplatz - Stachus) to which thousands of European citizens had come.
