Mitis (wine)

Mitis is a sweet white wine that is made from 100% Amigne .

Cultivation, maturation

Two thirds of the cultivation area is in Vétroz ( Canton Valais , CH). The yield is 2 dl per square meter.

When the juice reaches 135 degrees Öchsle , it is first fermented and then matured in oak barrels for almost a year .

properties

The finished wine has around 14 percent alcohol by volume; Residual sugar about 90 g / l.

Given its very sweet and aromatic taste, Mitis is often enjoyed with cheese (preferably soft cheese or blue cheese ) and with fresh liver.

history

The Amigne grape variety was probably brought to Switzerland by the Romans ( Vitis Amoena = "benevolent, pleasant vine").

1999: Mitis wins the gold medal at the Great International Wine Prize - Mundus Vini .

In 2001 this wine was rated "one of the best in the country" by over 1000 experts.
