Amigne
Amigne (or Amigne blanche ) is a white wine that was once also called Amique . Three quarters of global production, around 100,000 liters, come from the Swiss canton of Valais , and there mainly from the municipality of Vétroz . Around 43 hectares are planted with Amigne in central Valais (as of 2007, source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG). Amigne was probably introduced by the Romans. However, the variety was first mentioned in 1878 in an ampelographic exhibition in Geneva.
Amigne is vigorous and productive, but tends to trickle .
She has in the morphology similarities to Trebbiano , the wines produced from white wines , however, are significantly different. They are marketed dry as Grand Cru (e.g. in Vétroz). A strong dessert wine is also made from the variety (e.g. Mitis ), which contains a lot of residual sweetness and is also vinified as noble sweet.
Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is hairy white wool with a slight crimson tinge. The young leaves are yellowish green.
- The medium-sized to large leaves are three- or five-lobed and slightly curved (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open in a V shape. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are large and set wide in comparison to the grape varieties.
- The grapes are mostly shouldered, medium-sized (on average 212 grams) and loose berries. The slightly elliptical berries are small to medium-sized and green-yellow in color.
The Amigne grape ripens around 30 days after the Gutedel . It is one of the late-ripening varieties. Amigne is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
