The messages of the Verein für Anhaltische Landeskunde (abbreviated MVAL ) are a magazine on the history of the historical territory of the Free State or State of Anhalt. They have been published by the Verein für Anhaltische Landeskunde since 1993 as a scientific publication and appear once a year. The association publishes the "Bibliography on the History of Anhalt" as a supplement at irregular intervals. Special volumes on special topics or occasions are also published at irregular intervals.
The magazine is divided into articles, reviews, annotations, miscommunication and articles on club life. An elected editorial board of seven members including the chairman is responsible for the content. All former parts of the country: Bernburg and Anhaltischer Harz, Köthen, Dessau, Zerbst and the most important specialist committees should be represented in this editorial board.
