The Mittelbruch is a break landscape on the Havel island Töplitz in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark .

The Mittelbruch is an ice-age channel between the town of Neu-Töplitz, the Speckberg near Neu-Töplitz, the Hasselberg near Alt-Töplitz and the Mühlenberg near Alt-Töplitz and is therefore almost centrally located on the island of Töplitz, hence the name Mittelbruch. The Mittelbruch is a heavily swamped, overgrown and impenetrable forest. That is why breathtaking flora and fauna could settle there, and many species found a safe retreat here. The area is under nature protection . Due to the elevation of the Neu-Töplitz, the Heidberg, the Hasselberg, the Mühlenberg and the elevation of the Alt-Töplitz, the rift valley forms an ice age channel that extends to the Seeken on the Havel.

The Speckgraben flows through the middle break. It rises in the peat cuttings, which are also located in the breakthrough. It flows into the Sacrow-Paretz Canal with a lock . The lock regulates the water balance of the trench and thus also of the breach. There are also several smaller ponds or previously flooded peat and clay ponds in the breach. There peat and clay were extracted, but after the extraction phase, the groundwater flooded the dug holes and small ponds and lakes such as peat ponds were created. You can still see dams within the break. In addition, wood was extracted from the fast-growing forest.

As a result of the expansion of the Sacrow-Paretz Canal, the middle break should be renovated to compensate, that is, the Speckgraben should be freed from the years of swamping, as well as the many ponds within the break.
