Middle section (archery)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The middle part ( engl. : Riser ) is the central component of a recurve bow or blank sheet .

Using the middle part

All important parts of the bow are attached to the middle part and the bow is held when firing. In the case of middle parts, a distinction is made between the versions for right-handers and left-handers. A right-handed archer holds the bow with his left hand. The statement as to whether an archer is a right-handed or left-handed shooter relates to the hand with which the bowstring is drawn, and not to the hand with which the bow is held.

Construction

Central parts are traditionally made of wood. Today, however, middle parts made of aluminum or, for some time now, carbon have also been used. Middle parts made of wood are mainly used by beginners and children, while middle parts made of aluminum or carbon are mainly used by advanced players and tournament shooters.

Attachments on the middle part or as additional assembly:

Which components are attached depends on whether the bow is to be shot as a recurve bow or a bare bow (a bare archer may not use a sight, for example).
