Miwa Abiko

Miwa Abiko ( Japanese 安 孫子 三 和 , Abiko Miwa ; born January 23, 1963 in Ōgawara , Miyagi , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist .

For the short stories Shōten Rappa no Oto ga suru and Copy the Face she won the 43rd and 44th youth competition of the manga magazine LaLa , which is mainly aimed at young girls. For this magazine published by Hakusensha Verlag, she mainly drew in her subsequent career. The draftswoman's debut is the sixteen- page work Romanticist na Nijitachi , which was published in the 1983 summer edition of Bessatsu LaLa .

Abiko's breakthrough came with the 1,800-page manga Mikan Enikki (Eng. "Mikan's illustrated diary"), which was published in LaLa from 1988 to 1995 . It's about a girl's friendship with an orange cat who can speak and write. The manga was implemented as an anime television series from 1992 to 1993 .

From the first issue of Melody magazine in October 1997 to the May 1999 issue, she published her approximately 650-page manga series Rakuen e ikō! (Eng. "Let's go to paradise!"). Several new stories about Miwan Enikki and some works for Silky magazine followed. Silky and Melody are aimed primarily at adult women ( Josei ) and thus at a more mature target group than the LaLa .
