Mjóifjörður is a small fjord in western Iceland . mjór is the Icelandic word for narrow.
It is located in the north of Kerlingarfjörður on the south coast of the Westfjords in Breiðafjörður . The fjord stretches almost three kilometers into the country and is around 700 meters wide. The entrance to the fjord was closed with dams in 2014 and there is only water exchange under a 160 m long bridge. The Vestfjarðavegur , which previously completely circled the now uninhabited fjord, runs over these dams and the bridge .
