Mmamagwa

Mmamagwa even Mmamagwa Hill is an archaeological find place in the Central District in Botswana the river Motloutse , a tributary of the Limpopo near the mouth of Shashe .

The site is attributed to two different periods, of which the first, the Mapungubwe culture, extends from 1100 to 1450 and the immediately following second, the Khami culture, up to 1650. Artifacts are pottery and glass beads.

The Mapungubwe culture in Mmamagwa, like Mapungubwe on the opposite side of the Limpopo and the mouth of the Shashe, is associated with the Munhumutapa empire , if not in a vassal relationship.
