Scheme of the Friedemann model

The Model of Systemic is a conceptual model of care that on the Framework of Systemic of Marie-Luise Friedemann based. The first articles appeared in 1989 before the English-language theory was published in 1995. A year later Friedemann published a German-language book based on European literature. The theory is presented here and supplemented by examples from nursing .

The model, which is also the basis of family and environment-related care , is based on a systemic approach, derived from the systems theory of Norbert Weinert, Talcot Parson and Ludwig von Bertalanffy . Friedemann also points to family therapy and Carl Gustav Jung as the roots of their theory. Like all conceptual care models, Friedemann's model is also based on the metaparadigms of environment, people, health and care, but this model also includes family and family health. This emphasizes the importance of the family for care.

In this theory, care is equated with the care of the systemic unit human, family and environment and is a service on the various system levels. It includes the family and the environment in caring for the individual. The aim is to enable the system to strive for congruence and to support it. Care is negotiated and not decided from above. The networking of the family members ensures that the health of the whole family is promoted through the care.
