The Golden Ratio (Engl. The Golden Mean ) is the fifth and final studio album by Ace of Base . It was released on Playground Records in September 2010 .

Emergence

The album was recorded in early 2009 through mid-2010. It is the only album with the two new singers, Clara Hagman and Julia Williamson . Initially, the production of this album was started with the former singer Jenny Berggren . The three years of preparatory work in the studio of Jonas “Joker” Berggren and Ulf “Buddha” Ekberg consisted of figuring out what the Ace of Base sound would look like in the second decade of the 21st century. After a year of experimentation, it became clear to them that they wanted to record and preserve the original Ace of Base sound while keeping it contemporary. There was also talk of an acoustic version of the album, which the band announced on their website in 2014, but it was never released.

reception

The only single that was released was All for You . The song was broadcast to European radio stations in mid-July 2010 and released as a single in digital and physical formats on September 10, 2010. The music video for the song was released on August 27, 2010.

Previously, Mr. Replay was released as the album's first promo single and was the first release of Ace of Base with Clara and Julia. The song appeared on a promo DJ CD released in early July 2010. Mr. Replay has been described as "a compilation of every song Ace of Base has ever recorded" and features guest vocals in the verses of Lex Marshall. The song received mixed reviews from critics who felt it was too similar to their previous material. The album version differed slightly from the promo single.

The title track of The Golden Ratio was planned as a future single in Sweden but was only released for promotional purposes and was the last release from the album.
