Moderator band

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As moderator band ( trabecula septomarginal , Leonardo -bundle ) of the are of the ventricular septum heart to the papillary muscles referred withdrawing structures. They consist of working muscles and fibers of the excitation conduction system .

In humans, a moderator ligament with the right tawara thigh ( crus dextrum) extending from the ventricular septum to the anterior papillary muscle ( M. papillaris anterior ) is regularly formed in the right ventricle. Since the anterior papillary muscle is furthest away from the interventricular septum and thus the conduction system, the excitation would reach the anterior papillary muscles with a delay compared to the septal and posterior papillary muscles without this moderator band, which would lead to an offset contraction. The moderator band thus serves as a short circuit for the simultaneous contraction of all papillary muscles within the right ventricle during systole.
