The Modern Biathlon is the Biathlon ajar new sport. This all-round sport combines endurance sports and precision sports .

In modern biathlon, cross-skates and light point rifles are usually used instead of the cross-country skis and small -bore rifles used in conventional biathlon . In contrast to the winter sport of biathlon, thanks to the use of cross-skates, modern biathlon does not depend on snow and can be practiced in almost all seasons. Only snow and ice would be obstacles for the modern biathlon. The use of light point rifles is also a weapon-free alternative. Variants of modern biathlon consisting of running or mountain biking and light point shooting are also known. Modern biathlon is particularly popular as a popular sport in Germany . The rules were developed very systematically in long series of experiments and test competitions in order to maximize the advantages of this sport over other biathlon variants, which was also achieved with the first sets of rules. In the meantime, different competitions are being held according to other rules, which however reduce the advantages somewhat.
