Mohammad Abd al-Ghaffar al-Sharif

Mohammad Abd al-Ghaffar asch-Sharif ( Arabic محمد عبد الغفار الشريف, DMG Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Ġaffār aš-Šarīf ; * November 11, 1953 ) is an Islamic jurist from Kuwait . He is the general secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Kuwait. He is professor in the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University .

In 2006 he was one of the signatories of an open letter from Islamic scholars to Pope Benedict XVI. after his Regensburg speech .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
