The Open Letter from Islamic Scholars to Pope Benedict XVI. of September 25, 2006 was signed by 38 Islamic clergymen. The open letter refers to a lecture that Pope Benedict XVI. held on September 12, 2006 at the University of Regensburg (see main article: Pope quote from Regensburg ). In the introduction to the letter, its authors write that they consider several statements made by the head of the Roman Catholic Church in this lecture to be incorrect and would like to correct them.
