al-Habib Ali Maschhur bin Muhammed bin Salim bin Hafiz ( Arabic الحبيب علي مشهور بن محمد بن سالم بن حفيظ, DMG al-Ḥabīb ʿAlī Mašhūr b. Muḥammad b. Sālim b. Hafiz ) is a Muslim cleric, prayer leader ( Imam ) of the Tarim Mosque and chairman of the Fatwa -Rates Tarim . Previously, he was head of Dar al-Mustafa for Islamic Studies and lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Jurisprudence in Tarim . In 2006, as the highest Islamic representative of Yemen, he was one of the signatories to the Open Letter of Islamic Scholars to Pope Benedict XVI.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
