Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ali Tas ch iri ( listen ? / I PersianAudio file / audio sample محمدعلی تسخیری, DMG Moḥammad-ʿAlī Tasḫīrī ; * October 19, 1944 in Najaf , Iraq ; † August 18, 2020 in Tehran ) was an Iranian Shiite clergyman and politician . He was considered one of the richest Iranians and was a member of the party " Association of the fighting clergy ".

Life

Tashiri was the son of the Hodschatoleslam whale Muslim Sheikh Ali Akbar Tashiri from the city of Māzandarān in northern Iraq. Mohammad Ali Taschiri studied Islamic law at the Shiite theological universities of Najaf , later also Islamic literature and law. He studied Islamic theology and religion with Islamic scholars such as Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr , the Ayatollah al-Sayyid Muhammad Taqi al-Hakim , the Ayatollah Sheikh Jawad Tabrizi , the Ayatollah Sheikh Kazem Tabrizi , the Ayatollah Sadre Badkubi and the Ayatollah Sheikh Modschtaba Lankarani . He himself taught religious subjects and wrote poetry under the supervision of well-known writers of Arabic literature and poets such as Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Reza Mozaffar , Sheikh Abdolmahdi Satre and Sheikh Mohammad Amin Zaynoddin . He later appeared as the author of numerous books and articles on Islamic topics such as: B. Islamic ideology, Fiqh (law), Islamic economy and Islamic history in appearance.

Tashiri was very active in the Islamic movements against the Ba'ath Party, which ruled Iraq from 1963 to 2003, and was arrested and sentenced to death; however, he was pardoned and left for Iran in 1971. At the Theological College of Qom , he continued to study Islamic religious subjects, among others with Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Golpayegani , Ayatollah Hossein Wahid Chorasani and Ayatollah Mirza Haschem Amoli . He himself taught religion in seminars, Arabic literature in the scientific schools and universities of Qom.

After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, he supported the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran as an Islamic state . Worldwide he was committed to the spread of Islamic cultural activities and religious affairs both in Iran and overseas. Since then he has been the general secretary of the world association for the rapprochement of the Islamic schools of thought , founded in 1990 by Ali Khamenei , the leader of Iran , and from 1999 to 2007 advisor to the Supreme Legal Scholar on Muslim Affairs.

Act

In 2006 Mohammad Ali Tashiri was among the signatories of an open letter from Islamic scholars to Pope Benedict XVI. after his Regensburg speech .

He was also one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam on 13 October 2007, "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... “). In 2019 he was part of an Iranian state delegation of religious scholars who, together with representatives of the Holy See , spoke out against all forms of discrimination and in favor of freedom of religion and conscience in the treatment of people.
