Jakob Hillier
Jakob Hillier (born December 21, 1848 in Lowrin , Austrian Empire , † November 22, 1918 in Újszentanna , Kingdom of Hungary ) was a Romanian-German church musician and teacher .
Life
After attending the teacher training college in Szeged 1865-68 Hillier came to Neusanktanna as head of the church choir and the choral society and teacher. In 1894 he founded the Polgari Iskola Citizens' School , a Hungarian-language higher education institution until 1899. After his retirement in 1899 he remained active as a cantor.
Some of his compositions were published by Tonger-Verlag in Cologne ; However, only an Ave Maria for two voices and organ and a song without words (memorial sheet) for piano, which was printed by Engelmann and Mühlberg in Leipzig , are apparently preserved .
