Mohammad Hashim Kamali (* 7. February 1944 in the district of Lal Pur province of Nangarhar , Afghanistan ) is an Afghan university teacher of Islamic law. He was the Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) and Professor of Islamic Law at the International Islamic University of Malaysia from 1985 to 2007 .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).

Kamali is a member of the scientific advisory board of the interdisciplinary research center Key Concepts in Interreligious Discourses (KCID) at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .
