Ghazi bin Muhammad ( Arabic غازي بن محمد, DMG Ġāzī b. Muḥammad ; * October 15, 1966 in Amman ) is a Jordanian prince and professor of Islamic philosophy at the University of Jordan who advocates dialogue between religions. He is the personal representative and special advisor to King Abdullah II of Jordan and the chairman of the board of trustees of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought , an international Islamic institute and think tank with its headquarters in Amman, the capital of the Kingdom of Jordan .

He is the founder of Al-Balqa Applied University and the World Islamic Sciences and Education University (WISE).

He is considered a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed. He is the son of Prince Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan and his first wife Firyal Irshaid, as well as the grandson of King Talal of Jordan and cousin of King Abdullah II of Jordan . He has been married to Areej Omar Zawawi from Oman since 1997 . The couple has three children.

He was educated at Harrow School in London : (1979-1984), of Princeton University : (1984-1988), the Trinity College of Cambridge University : (1988-1989; 1990-1993) and Usul al-Din College from al-Azhar University in Cairo (2007–2010).

In 2006 Ghazi bin Muhammad was one of the signatories of an open letter from Islamic scholars to Pope Benedict XVI. after his Regensburg speech .

He was also the coordinator of the response, signed by 138 Islamic scholars, to the attacks against the Pope after his Regensburg speech.

He has received numerous prizes, honors and awards.

In 2008 he received the Eugen Biser Prize .

He has been traded as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize for several years .

The Muslim 500 was his idea .
