Wilhelm Ludwig von Bissing
Ludwig Wilhelm von Bissing (born February 12, 1682 in Gross-Salze , † April 8, 1762 in Krakow in Mecklenburg-Strelitz ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 4 .
Life
origin
Wilhelm Ludwig was the son of Hans Ludwig von Bissing (* January 23, 1648; † 1685) and his first wife Magdalena Katharina, born von Schneidewind from the house of Groß-Salze. His father was the master of Loeberitz , Seelingenstedt and Stockwitz.
Military career
On July 11, 1705, Bessing was employed as a cornet with the No. 3 Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army . With the regiment he took part in the 1705/11 campaign against France and became a lieutenant on March 6, 1709 and a staff commander on January 16, 1711 . In April 1717 Bissing received a squadron as major in the Dragoon Regiment "von der Schulenburg" No. 5 . On August 15, 1724, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In mid-June 1727 Bissing was finally regimental commander and in this position was promoted to colonel on July 3, 1728 . Due to his poor health, Bissing received eight weeks vacation from June 1, 1739, which he spent in Dresden and Teplitz.
In May 1741 he received from the king as chief the Dragoon Regiment No. 4, which was established by the division of the Dragoon Regiment "Rothenburg" No. 3. This was followed by his promotion to major general in early June 1741. As early as January 1742, Bissing diminished to the king's displeasure after he had repeatedly asked for his release due to his poor health.
