Codrin Ștefan Țapu (born December 17, 1973 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian psychologist . He participated in the development of the hypostatic model of personality. Țapu studied psychology at the University of Bucharest and taught at the Hyperion University and the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest.

Life

Codrin Țapu was born in Bucharest and grew up near the town of Fundulea , where his parents worked. His father, Constantin Țapu, was a wheat researcher at the National Institute for Agricultural Research. His mother, Zoe Țapu, worked at the same institute as a pioneer of durum wheat research in Romania. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Bucharest , where he obtained his bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in psychology. Since 1998 Țapu has worked as a lecturer at the psychological faculty of Hyperion University in Bucharest. In 2006 he became Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest.

Research work

In 1997 Țapu began to work on his thesis on the development of the hypostatic model of personality. The model argues that the person presents himself in a variety of different aspects or hypostases, depending on internal and external realities, including different epistemological approaches to the study of personality. The model falls into the category of complex biopsychosocial models of personality .

Neither the person nor the relationship alone, but the relationship between the parts of the person (s) is a central element that promotes both personal and social organization and disorganization.

On a metatheoretical level , the hypostatic model includes, but is not limited to, several types of personal aspects:

  • Adaptive Aspects : which relates to the person's internal organization and the way in which it is adapted to the environment;
  • Constitutive aspects represent the way in which the personality interacts with the organism and the outside world;
  • Temporal aspects track the totality of the forms of the person along the time axis including the actions, states of consciousness and stages of development; all of these are only theoretically separate aspects of temporality (see referential aspects below);
  • Referential aspects: the way the person is perceived by himself or by others (including scientists and theorists);
  • Integrative aspects: various combinations of the above aspects.

The hypostatic model describes aspects and dimensions of personality as well as intra- and interpersonal relationships. The personality is viewed as a relatively stable construction, with the model being accompanied by specific methods of assessment and psychotherapy.

rating

The work of Țapu was recognized thanks to its originality, the provocative approach and the opening up of the field of "concrete-systemic" or "hypostatic" psychology. His early works were widely criticized for the large number of neologisms that made the text difficult to understand and for its reputation for "damned incomplete".
