Mohand Laenser (* 1942 in Imouzzer Marmoucha ) is a Moroccan politician and is general secretary of the popular movement party .

Education and career

He graduated from the École nationale d'administration with special distinction. He then completed professional training at the Institut national des postes et télécommunications (INPT) in Rabat , the Télécom ParisTech and the Institut français des sciences administratives (IFSA) in Paris .

Mohand Laenser has held various positions within the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications since 1969. From 1981 to 1992 Laenser was Minister of Post and Telecommunications under Prime Minister Mohammed Karim Lamrani . On June 25, 1993, he was directly elected General Secretary of the People's Movement, and as a member of parliament he represents the constituency of Boulemane ( Boulmane Province ) in central Morocco.

In the Driss Jettou cabinet he was Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries from 2002 to 2007. On July 29, 2009 Abbas al-Fassi was appointed Ministre d'État (Minister of State) as part of the reshuffle of the cabinet . In the parliamentary elections in Morocco in 2011 , he campaigned for his party.

From January 2012 to October 2013 he was Minister of the Interior and from October 2013 to May 2015 he was Minister for Urban Planning and Regional Planning. Laenser has been Minister for Youth and Sport since May 2015.
