The Rostocker Molkenstraße is a street in the historic center of the Hanseatic city . It connects the Grubenstrasse with the Wollenweberstrasse and belongs to the former Rostock old town .

The Molkenstrasse was first mentioned in 1369 as platea lactinorum . Originally, not only it, but the middle-town Weißgerberstraße across from the pit, a former branch of the Unterwarnow , was called Molkenstraße. Since Molkenstrasse bordered that pit , today's Grubenstrasse, a bridge over it was called Molkenbrücke . It is uncertain that the street owes its name to its connection to the dairy industry. The subordinate importance of Molkenstrasse in the Hanseatic city of Rostock was reflected in its development with simple stalls that were completely destroyed in the city fire of 1677 . Then simple eaves houses were built on Molkenstrasse, which in turn were destroyed in the four-night bombardment of the British Air Force at the end of April 1942. In the 1950s, it was completely rebuilt with uniform residential buildings, similar to those in the parallel fish bank . Coordinates: 54 ° 5 ′ 21 ″  N , 12 ° 8 ′ 40 ″  E
