Momme is a Frisian given name. Momme's sons used to be called Mommsen : "Momme sen sön" (Eng. Mommes son). Momme is a rare given name and is most common in northern Germany.

Origin and meaning

Momme comes from the names Munibert and Mommbert and means "shiny spirit" or "shiny thought". The versions Momke or Mombke are also used, but they are usually given as female first names.
