The lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014 was the first of two lunar eclipses in 2014 and the first of four lunar eclipses in two years. These include the lunar eclipses on October 8, 2014, April 4, 2015 and September 28, 2015.

The lunar eclipse was observed in America , the Pacific region as well as Australia and New Zealand . During the five hour and 44 minute lunar eclipse, the moon passed south of the Earth's umbra. As a result, the northern part of the moon was noticeably darker than the southern part. The total lasted an hour and 18 minutes. This lunar eclipse is the 56th lunar eclipse of the 122nd Saros cycle .
