Necati Tacan

İbrahim Necati Tacan (* 1895 in Constantinople ; † July 28, 1958 in İstanbul ) was a Turkish general who, among other things, was Commander-in-Chief of the 2nd Army between 1955 and 1956, Commander -in-Chief of the 3rd Army from 1956 to 1957, and between 1957 and his death 1958 Commander in Chief of the Land Forces ( Türk Kara Kuvetleri ) was.

Life

Tacan began studying after attending school, but joined the Ottoman Army as a soldier on July 21, 1914 a week before the start of World War I and was promoted to sub-lieutenant ( Asteğmen ) in 1915 . In 1945 Tacan was promoted to Brigadier General ( Tuğgeneral ) and was initially commander of the 68th Brigade and then in 1946 Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army ( Üçüncü Ordu ). After his promotion to major general ( Tümgeneral ), he took over the post of commander of the 11th Division in 1947 and then worked as a teacher at the Academy of High Command ( Yüksek Komuta Akademisi ). After a subsequent assignment as commander of the 23rd Division, he was commander of the Army Academy and then commander of the 6th Division, before he was finally deputy commanding general of the 5th Corps ( 5th Kolordu ).

After his promotion to lieutenant general ( Korgeneral ) Tacan took over the post of 1951 Commanding General of the 5th Corps and undertook subsequent as head of the Operations Department in the General Staff of the Republic of Turkey . He then became the commanding general of the 15th Corps and then deputy commander-in-chief of the 2nd Army, before finally becoming Commander-in-Chief of the 2nd Army ( İkinci Ordu ) on April 25, 1955 as the successor to General Abdülkadir Seven himself . In 1956 he was promoted to general ( orgeneral ). On June 14, 1956, he was replaced as Commander-in-Chief of the 2nd Army by General Rüştü Erdelhun , while he himself was Commander-in-Chief of the 3rd Army as the successor to General Nazmi Ataç from June 16, 1956 until his replacement by General Cemal Gürsel on November 30, 1957.
